A podium and a fine team performance for DS Techeetah
Round four of the Formula E season, held at Mexico’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, confirmed the improving form of DS Techeetah, with a second consecutive podium (2nd) for Antonio Felix Da Costa, whilst team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne finished fourth.
A strong team performance. The members of DS Techeetah can take considerable pride in their performance at the Mexico ePrix, round four of the 2019-2020 season, after the season-opening double-header in Diriyah and round three in Santiago. Having begun the race in ninth position of the start grid, Antonio Felix Da Costa produced a superb drive to fight his way through the field in a DS E-TENSE FE20 that was both quick and energy-efficient. He finished as runner-up, a second consecutive podium for the Portuguese driver to go with the one he managed in the streets of Santiago. His team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne was not to be outdone, however, moving up from eighth place at the start to secure a fine fourth place, his best result so far this season. “Another second place for Antonio and fourth for JEV make for an excellent team performance,” commented a delighted Xavier Mestelan Pinon, DS Performance Team Principal. “And the 30 points collected by our two drivers clearly put us back in contention for both titles! The DS E-TENSE FE20 worked perfectly, which augurs very well for the rest of the championship. We now have to work on improving our qualifying performance and then we’ll be able to start winning races!” The team is therefore looking forward now to the next round in Marrakesh (29 February), where they will hope to 'walk the talk’...
Mitch Evans struck a double blow in Mexico: with his second career win in the formula, the New-Zealander also moved into the championship lead, one point ahead of Alexander Sims and eight clear of Antonio Felix Da Costa, the DS Techeetah driver. Jean-Eric Vergne, the reigning two-time champion, scored his best haul of points this weekend since the start of the 2019-2020 season and is now twelfth in the drivers’ standings. In the teams’ standings, DS Techeetah is now fourth, just two points behind the second-placed team.

Formula E is a genuine laboratory for Total when it comes to the development of its range of Total Quartz EV Fluid lubricants, designed for electric vehicles. Total supplies DS Techeetah, its special partner, with several prototype products: electric motor cooling fluid, gearbox and differential coolant, as well as wheel bearing lubricants. The battery coolant, common to all FE competitors, is however provided by the supplier in charge of the sole battery used on all the cars in the championship.
